A simple way to transition from highlighted to lived-in

color technique

Dampen the hair, and then root melt with a demi that matches the natural level, wet balayage to refresh dull ends, and then rise & gloss (if needed)

ROOT MELT NOTES:

  • I usually always use Schwarzkopf Igora Vibrance because it’s opaque and true to level & will erase a line of demarcation
  • I usually always use 6 volume lotion developer unless I’m blending grey (in which case I use 13 volume lotion developer)
  • I start applying in the back and work my way to the front, taking small sections and blending every few sections with a wide tooth comb
  • I always match the natural level and my go to is a -0 (natural) and a -1 (cendre)

WET BALAYAGE NOTES:

  • I like to mix a clay and a regular powder lightener together
  • Typically I use Schwarzkopf BlondeMe 9+ and Schwarzkopf BlondeMe Clay
  • Usually I do 20 volume or higher
  • I let this process for about 15-30 minutes
  • This gives me about one level of lift/brightens dull blonde but if I need more lift, this is not the right technique
  • I wouldn’t do this if the hair was super fragile or breaking
