Meet this month's BCU Featured Stylist! Jess's variety of dimensional color work caught my eye! 

Let's get to know Jess! She's an aspiring color specialist out of Tariffville, CT. You can find her on Instagram at @jessmariecosmo. I asked Jess a few questions so I could learn more about her and her journey. Check out our conversation below!!

+How long have you been doing hair? 
I graduated Paul Mitchell in early 2023 and have been behind the chair for a little over a year now! 

+Tell me about yourself. Are you a salon owner? Booth renter? Commission stylist? What is your specialty behind the chair. What are your goals?
I’m a commission stylist. I’d like to specialize in all sorts of color services! I love anything from a little grey coverage to big transformations. As a newer stylist, my biggest goal right now is continuing to expand my education & try as many new things as I can! I am also working on building my clientele and strengthening the relationships I have with all of them! 

+What's been the best advice you have ever received?
The best advice I’ve received is to always try new things and never stop learning.

+What do you feel is your greatest strength?
I feel like my greatest strength is my ability to chat with just about anyone I meet! I feel like I am pretty personable and always have a good laugh and fun convo with just about everyone in my chair. 

+What advice do you have for other stylists?
You may try something new on a client that doesn’t work out but you shouldn’t be afraid or discouraged to ask someone with more experience to help correct a mistake or answer a question. We all start somewhere and we wouldn’t grow without slipping up here and there.

+What do you feel is the most valuable part of being a BCU member?
I love BCU because when I feel like I need a little refresher on skills I may not utilize as often, I can always be guaranteed to find something on there that will help me improve while also teaching me some new tricks and tips!
