How I became efficient BTC
LET ME BE CLEAR: this post is not me encouraging everyone to rush through every application so they can squeeze more clients in. Some applications require 2 hours worth of foil work. But there are plenty of times when we over think and do 729 foils when we could do half that and still get an amazing, if not *better* end result.
Here are some things that helped me to be more efficient:
➡️ FINDING A FEW PLACEMENTS THAT I LOVED, and tweaking them for the client I was working on. Reinventing the wheel at every application and constantly doing new placements is exhausting. Find a few (maybe 3) “core” placements that you love and learn to tweak them based on the specific client that you’re working on. This will allow you to feel like there’s some predictability so you can envision how the end result will come out.
➡️ LEARNING THE WHY behind what I was actually doing. What kind of end result does a horizontal foil give me? What about vertical? How much blonde will a weave offer vs. a slice? Knowing which placement and technique gives what result was hugeeee for me to feel like I wasn’t winging it.
➡️ FOCUS MORE ENERGY & TIME ON THE IMPORTANT PARTS OF THE HEAD. Is the middle of the back of the head important? Yes, sure. But is it nearly as important as the face frame is? No!! I’m focusing on the 3 major impact areas when I’m applying color. They are the face frame, right next to/on the part, and the ends. These are the spots that the client sees when they look in the mirror and they take majority of my energy and time!
