One thing that will NEVER go out of style

mentorship/mindset styling

Blow drying is one of the most underrated parts of doing hair!! I was very very bad at blowouts when I started doing hair but it was 2007 and everyone flat ironed the shit out of their hair so I didn’t really care 🤣 Then soft/beachy waves became popular and I rough dried everyone and then just smoothed their hair when I was curling it 😅

No matter what kind of style is trendy and popular, a good blow out will NEVER go out of style. It’s the first time the client sees their hair and the beautiful new color or cut you just did. So if I could go back and start my career over, I would focus way more on getting great at blowouts.

Here are my best blowout tips:

➕ don’t start round brushing until the hair is 80% dry

➕ use a boar bristle brush for maximum shine and tension (this is personal preference but in my opinion nothing matches the shine and smoothness that I get from my Ibiza Hair brushes)

➕ finish each section with cool air to help set it

➕ start in the front & move to the back (this is personal preference but I feel like clients love to see their dry hair asap plus I have way more energy in the beginning of the blow dry session so I focus that energy on the most important part: the front!)

I posted an entire class about blow drying on my virtual education platform BCU! BCU has over 120 tutorials covering multiple topics with new content added weekly. Plus, you have me as your personal mentor! I’ll answer any and all questions in the BCU DMs!! Click HERE for more info!
