Why I don't really focus on sectioning

But I need to first say that if you love elaborate sectioning, I love that for you and I fully support you in that venture! There is no right or wrong way. Hair is art and you can approach it in whatever way feels right to you!

When I started doing hair it seemed like the right thing to do was to focus heavily on sectioning. So I tried that. And honestly it took me way too long and it just didn’t really make sense to me. Personally, sectioning complicates things too much for me and in majority of my color services, I don’t really section a bunch. I kind of just start doing the color and move the hair around as needed. Or, I’ll section out the side and back and that’s it (like you see in the pictures above).

There’s usually a slight method to my madness though…for instance I usually always start in the front of the head, then move onto the sides of the head and then the back. But do I take the time to section out these spots on the head before I start working in them? No, not really 😂
